Operationally the tablet is as expected on most any machine these days... It's some variant of Android or something and is just powerful enough to handle the task, but clearly not top of the line, which leads to slow load times and diminished user experience compared to having a top of the line processor... but it works. I think we had it lock up once and had to power cycle, but it's behaved fairly well compared to some of the reviews we read from others. It would have been nice if it had the ability to do Netflix or something in addition to iFit, but I'm sure they didn't want competing subscription options on there.
The iFit runs are definitely good. I'm not sure if the wife renewed after the 1 year plan (seems over priced IMO), but she and the kids all enjoyed touring various places around the world as they worked out. But for $500/yr it's a lot cheaper to just turn on the TV...
The fans on the unit are impressive. Our old treadmill we had to set up a separate fan to help, but these little guys aren't overly loud and move a lot of air. Those are a big win.
The speakers are OK. Nothing to write home about, but they work. If you want music though, stick to earbuds.
The only issue I had was after a few months, my wife was complaining that it seemed hard to run on and that she was struggling. I checked it out knowing that treadmills in general are more draining to run on that road running due to the bounce sapping some energy from your stride (think how running in sand is harder than on the road). But it wasn't the bounce, rather it was the incline. The treadmill was reporting 0 incline but was clearly (measured with a level) very off... I ran the diagnostic/maintenance auto-level feature and it didn't change. It went up all the way, down all the way, and set 0 back to this inclined position. We had to set the incline to -1.5 to get it back to flat. I opened a support ticket with NordicTrack and it took 3 weeks to get a reply (not good). They asked me to remove the shroud and film a video of the diagnostic lights as it went through the auto-level process. I took a couple months before bothering to disassemble and do this, and as I filmed the video, it all worked fine. The auto-level (which we had ran a half dozen times) worked and set level back to 0. Go figure. So not sure what that was all about...
I also marked a chalk line and measured the belt length and recorded a video time-trial to see how "far" the belt distance is over a 10 minute span vs what is reported on the tablet and they were within 15 feet of each other over a half mile run... so 99.43% accurate. Not bad!
I haven't lubricated the belt again as it is marked as "lifetime lubricated" but I have a hard time believing that and will likely lubricate it at some point.
Overall, the treadmill has definitely gotten used. It was an expensive but good purchase and we'd do it again. Could it be better? Sure. Does it meet expectations, yes. Are we happy we bought it, yes.
Save your money and spend it on a cheaper treadmill with no tablet so you can invest in the tablet separately. This is garbage, iFIT subscriptions are falling through after the first free year, since they are not that great but for the first time I have seen that the app is holding the entire tablet and treadmill hostage. They will not let you download anything else netflix, amazon prime or youtube on the tablet so you are forced to renew their subscription. Check out Youtube full of horror stories of people trying to find a hack for variety and entertainment but mostly because after spending $2000 on a treadmill you expect it to be yours and not owned by a corporation that twists your arm every time you do not cough up money to renew. iFit trainers are fine but they talk too much, I like my runs to be peaceful with a view of the moving trail but sometimes I want to watch something else so I am not being a couch potato. This is absolutely unacceptable. I regret this purchase and wish that I had invested in a cheaper treadmill with no tablet to buy a separate tablet to watch whatever I so desire on the run. Its shame, I cannot return this entrapment. Save your money, stay away!
10/1/2020 Update
The Nordic track needs to get it together, the treadmill tablet has gotten bad to worse, it takes 3-5 minutes to boot up and 75-80% of the times shows an error and needs to be restarted. Most of the programs on it have buffering issues, error out, stop working and ruin the run for you. By the time you get it boot up, find something, its already 7 mins in and your mojo to run is dying. I am furious about this since the tablet is the only way to operate it. I MOSTLY do manual runs at this point without running an iFIT program, because it's JUST NOT WORTH THE WASTED TIME to get set up and use iFIT. No one wants to spend 10 minutes getting set up TO RUN- which should be pretty straightforward. Isn't that the whole point of running?
If this is the state within 6 mos of purchase, I am afraid of what to expect down the road, if there is one. Its frustrating and no direct number to reach out to for support. BTW the Bluetooth to connect my (Bose) earphones worked just fine for me until the latest update on the tablet last week. Thanks for nothing!
Pros- I have had this treadmill for a little over a month. The treadmill is sturdy, not as loud- although if you live in apartments, the sound and vibrations will carry based on the construction. The assembly was easy with well-written instructions. The incline and decline work smoothly throughout the workout. The iFit workout library is pretty exhaustive and offers something for all levels in addition to strength and HIIT workouts. Though its hard to see the screen when you are doing the floor exercises. I am glad I got the one with Bluetooth speakers and fans- that helps me go on longer by keeping the body temp down. The feather touch buttons can sometimes be an issue to be clicked twice but it's just something I have to get used to. The tablet size and quality is great - the iFit videos are a pure joy to work with on the high def screen.
Cons: The iFit programs are great when they work- they cause lag in the workout at times and have frozen in between a run where I lost the progress. For the tablet size and treadmill cost, I would have liked a less buggy interface and smoother, quicker operation. I am not sure if I will continue with the subscription after the year is up but definitely the bugginess is an issue for me. I am concerned if the tablet will last me long to operate the treadmill.
The treadmill takes a minute to boot up when you can start running- on multiple occasions the initiation failed and had to be rebooted 2-3 times to get it started.
Additional must-haves:
- I would really like to have the ability to project my phone on this tablet or have native apps on the tablet to play Netflix or Hulu. I am wondering if that's being considered as an option. If they can push that feature in the software update, that would be a great value add and great customer experience.
- I would also love to have some iFit workout videos with just the trail views in different terrains but no audio or commentary over it. this is where I can choose to use the iFit workout and listen to podcasts or music during my run.
I was given a delivery date of 1/20/21 and they notified me every step of the way. The delivery men were fabulous. Called me day of delivery, and 30 minutes with in my home. They were careful with product and prepared with special dolly. This bad boy weighs over 300 lbs, so do Some planning.. we had room prearranged on bottom floor outside a sliding door to patio we had them leave it there. We found the best assembly instruction video online at Nordic track. We opened it, went through pieces. He followed video and assembled the bottom. Had our Son in Law help bring it house, placed a mat down...and my husband finished construction from there. My husband is a retired engineer and very methodical and cautious. He doesnt rush anything, lol. He said he did replace a few bolts as he didn't like them, but it wasnt a problem he had them on hand. It took him several hours to construct it, the next day he did the connection of the iFit pad and I was off.
I was taken aback by the size. The profile is large. I know it gives dimentions, but it is different when you actually see it done. There is a small drop from the walking belt to floo, which I have a little issue with because of my joints. But that is half the challenge. . The height from floor to top if the front is taller than I am. I am just under 5’2”. I actually like the treadmill now, and feel very motivated and empowered to use it everyday, and I see quick results ad ,it is fun with the videos. No way can I walk at 2.5 mph like most of the programs are set to. But I can modify easily, the elevation mode goes easily from -2 to 15. If i cant maintain at the Higher elevations after a while without pain in my back, I just lower it. So all programs are adaptable. The several ifit programs I have done are very informative as well as beautiful.
All in all, this is an extremely professional, sturdy treadmill for walking, jogging or running. I love being able to track my past work. I love the stats being shown as you work out. There is music if you want it An adjustable audio board. I can say it is very user friendly. I am not the techiest person out there, I retired before my job had computers!! But I maneuver well without having to read instructions Great buy, great product.
So we popped the box open after they left and all seemed to look good. This is HEAVY and a pain to move as was indicated by the machine lift only sticker. When you get it out of the box I suggest installing the piston first so you can roll it to where you want in the house without needing a high school lifting team to assist. That way the deck is locked up and you can just wheel it around. Also take into account where you want it first because this thing will not fit through a standard door without some creative sideways sliding action. Hint: Save some of the box to use as a sled when you get to this step.
Once you have it where you want it goes together pretty easily unless your young kids are crawling all over you while asking a million questions.
iFit is pretty cool but still has a long way to go like perhaps including a search feature. Tech support said they are working on it. But this makes long sessions fly by. It is really amazing! Not Peloton amazing but really great none the less.
Doing the workouts that have you off the treadmill can be a huge pain because the screen is only 10" and doesn't move much. Look to the Nordictrack 2950 if you want to do that stuff easily.
When you set up your iFit account do it via the iFit web page and not on the treadmill. Also make sure you put the - in between the numbers on your included card otherwise it will say the number is invalid or has been redeemed.
If you have a heart rate monitor already that is BLE (4.0) compatible it self sync's just by being near the treadmill and you don't have to use the app like the instructions tell you.
You can't pair your iFit app with this treadmill. Apparently that is for products that do not include a touch screen. There was some confusion on that as well.
The manual also advises that there is an interactive product tour on the touch screen and there is not.
Finally, here is my biggest grip. The description on Amazon sucks so if you go to the Nordictrack page or any reviewer of the 2019 version of the 1750 you will see that this treadmill is supposed to include the tablet holder and a chest strap heart rate monitor. Nordictrack advised me today that the version that is indistinguishable via model number and is sold by Amazon does not include either of these items. I was PISSED to say the least as this is really shady. The tablet holder is an extra $96.00 and the HR Monitor was another $125.00. Reading the reviews and comments here it looks like some people received the tablet holder while others did not and I'm not sure about the HR monitor so your mileage may vary.
We had registered immediately, and I had sent in multiple support tickets to ICON/NordicTrack, but never got any response. I tried calling a couple times, giving up after long waits on hold, but eventually I got through to an individual, and this is where the otherwise painful support experience was better...the person walked me through an examination of the unit and we determined the frame itself was bent in a way that repair in place was impossible, so I started through the return/replacement process with Amazon. So do take note if you have to contact support...call the number and stay on til you reach a person...they will likely be helpful, but online support tickets have basically just gone into a black hole, for me. The Amazon return/replacement was also a bit of debacle in various ways, and it took another month to get another unit, but it was manageable if time-consuming, and we got it in the end. Another laborious assembly later (maybe I'm getting good at the process, ha!) and we're in business.
Have had it for a month now, and since this one arrived undamaged, am very much happy with it. No belt slipping, feels very solid, fans blow hard enough, and the iFit integration, as much of a silly afterthought I thought it was at first, is now an essential to me. It helps the most to give your mind something to distract you on long runs, and also having a virtual personal trainer constantly reinforcing attention paid to your form, and the like, is probably very good for me. Even just enforcing something like warmups and cooldowns is new to me, who took to running with an immature attitude of "hop on the treadmill, run at 7.5mph until I can't anymore, hop off". So the iFit integration really makes this one worth it to me, and we will probably end up renewing even though at first it seemed a bit overpriced to me.
Maneuverability is good...once assembled...and as long as you don't have to go through doors. This is a big treadmill. Assembly is a major challenge if you can't fit the box through your front door. We were initially planning to put this in our basement, when I realized (after receiving it) that the height of the treadmill itself would have my head nearly hitting the rafters while running, so we ended up letting this stay in a corner of our living room. We had to disassemble the defective first treadmill in order to get it out of our door, for the return...the process was quite difficult, the plastic grommet that locks the wire in place is not easy to remove without special knowledge or tools once snapped in. Short story...put it where you want it, and assemble it where you want. Measure until you are sure!
I'm happy with the features overall. Bluetooth integration works. The trainer volume and music volume are fortunately split as I rarely like the piped in music, so I keep that off. I'd be happy if you could do a hybrid mode where the trainer track stays on but you can sub in your own music for the music track via Bluetooth, but no complaints, just one thing that might make it nicer (maybe via a firmware update?).
If it broke catastrophically and couldn't be repaired...yes, I'd probably get another one. I never really enjoyed leaving the house for the gym and I was just doing treadmill work there anyway, so this one has ended up making things pretty easy and convenient...just hop on after working from home, and go. And the iFit thing is quite nice in a year where I've had to cancel a lot of travel..."visiting" locations like Austria, Switzerland, Madeira, Tasmania, Hawaii, and the like. Makes it more fun than just staring at the clock and the mile counter. Overall we're quite happy with it.
