Breakfast idea: My Jar of Overnight Oats

My jar of overnight oats which I soak overnight in almond milk or soy milk. The most common mixture is equal parts raw rolled oats, milk and yogurt (I like 1/3 or 1/2 cup of each). All you need to do is put in the fridge overnight (covered or not, your choice) and let them soak up the liquids. Yummy! Yummy!

 Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 – 1/2 cup milk [depending on how thick you like it]
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • Pinch salt
  • Pinch cinnamon

Preparation

Stir everything together in a bowl. Place in fridge overnight. In the morning top with something crunchy and something with healthy fats – like nut butter or nuts.

What I love about my jar of love is a great variety of fruits and nuts I can use for making it. I add peanut butter to make it more fluffy or frozen strawberries to make it more like ice cream.

Yum! Yum! Bon apetite!

  1. I’ve been eating a lot of overnight oats lately…I’ve been using random ratios of things, but must try it with yours!

Would you believe I’ve never tried overnight oats?! I really need to change that because I love anything with oats, millet, etc. And I actually have all the ingredients I already need for your recipe in the house! I think I’ll try this tonight for tomorrow’s breakfast – thank you!

UPDATE: I totally forgot to make these last night, like I intended! ARG! Doing it tonight for sure, though + will report back tomorrow. =D
